Casinos all over the world have been using the concept of the near-miss theory for ages to let their customer not abandon their premises after a few unsuccessful trials at getting rich… but effectively driving them to spend even more money to try harder.
The near-miss theory is just how our brain works and it was a relatively recent study from 1980’s which described how it is used in many contexts and especially in gambling to stimulate and influence players’ behavior.
The good news is that near-miss theory can be (and is) successfully applied to digital marketing to increase engagement and conversion.
